Shopping for Resources: Community Resource Fair
Northshore Families Helping Families will host a resource fair on Saturday, July 25th from 10:00am until 2:30pm at North Shore Square Mall in Slidell to provide people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and the general public with information and knowledge of services available in our area. 40 community agencies will be stationed throughout the mall. Free Informational Sessions will be held in the Conference Room near the Dillard’s Women Entrance throughout the day.
10:00 am – 10:15 am – Early Steps: Services for Children 0-3
What are the eligibility requirements for Early Steps? What services are available for my baby or toddler?

10:20 am – 11:20 am – Getting Ready for School: IEPs and ITPs
What do we, as parents of children with disabilities, need to know before school starts? How do we make the Individualized Education Program or Individualized Transition Plan functional and effective? What can we expect from school personnel?

11:30 am – 12:45 pm – Getting Ready for Success: Life as I Want it
What do we need to do now to plan for the future? What are the issues for tweens and teens with disabilities as they transition to adulthood? When is it time to start to focus on the adult issues?

1:00 pm – 2:15 pm Getting Ready for Work
How do I get the job I want? Who can help me find a job? How do I figure out what kind of job I want or work I want to do? What questions do I ask during an interview? What do I need to know before I apply for a job with an employer?
