Creating a Valued Future: Organizing for Change
Guy Caruso, PhD, a national speaker for Partners in Policymaking, is coming to our region! Dr. Caruso will teach us how to create a vision for a valued future for individuals with disabilities. In this interactive presentation, he will provide the history of the disability movement, as well as the self-advocacy movement, and guide us on how we can be part of continuing to move toward a society where everyone has an opportunity for the “good things in life.”
This workshop is designed to benefit anyone who has any connection to someone with a disability. Parents and self-advocates: invite your friends, grandparents, siblings, other family members, neighbors, co-workers, etc. Teachers and professionals: this is for you too. We hope you can join us!
Lunch will be provided. A $10 stipend is available for individuals with developmental disabilities and family members of people with developmental disabilities who travel 50 miles or more roundtrip to attend this workshop. Contact the Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council (Robbie.Gray@la.gov or 225-342-6804) with questions. If you will travel 150 miles or more roundtrip, an additional travel stipend may be available.
