Adult Program
S.A.G.E. (Self Advocates Gaining empowerment) offers individuals with disabilities over 18 an opportunity to spend time with others in a fun and care-free environment. This group gets together once a month for a social event and weekly to bowl. We also have small workshops on topics of interest for the adults tailored specifically for them. Please contact Carmen O'mara to join or with any questions.
Network Groups

Autism Network Group: These network groups meet in Hammond, Mandeville, and Slidell. Parents of children with autism can discuss what is going on in their lives with others who understand.

All Disabilities Network Group: These network groups meet in Denham Springs as well as Mandeville and are designed for parents of children with all disabilities.
Information and Referral
Florida Parishes Human Services Authority (FPHSA) provides an array of support services to families of individuals with developmental disabilities residing in Region 9. Our referral coordinator, Amy, can inform parents about waiver services and other programs through FPHSA, as well as other community resources.
Education Services

We provide consultations with parents about education laws and regulations.

We provide advocates to help parents prepare for IEP and other school meetings. Our advocates will accompany parents to school meetings.

We advocate for the education of all students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.

We provide assistance with preparation of complaints and other school-related correspondence.
Workshops

Coffee Talks: small group sessions for 5 parents on topics of interest held monthly at our office. Please contact our office to request a topic or for more information.

Seminars and Trainings: workshops on a vast array of information on a wide variety of issues such as the education of children with disabilities to long-term planning for adults with disabilities.

Parent Weekend: conference filled with speakers, food, and fun providing a way for parents of children with disabilities to gain valuable information.

Louisiana Parent Training and Information Center (LaPTIC) Collaboration: live and on line trainings to parents and families of children with disabilities on educational legal rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Provides statewide list serve, LaDisability Talk!
Stipends
We provide stipends to families wishing to attend conferences and other trainings on or about disability-related topics. Please contact our office for more details about how to apply.
Early Childhood
Early Childhood Supports and Services (ECSS) is a project for families who reside in St. Tammany. The goal of this initiative is to develop a local integrated, comprehensive system of care for children up to 5 years of age and their families.
Health Services

Children’s Special Health Services Parent Liaison (CSHS) Provides information, referral, education, training and one-to-one support to families enrolled in Children’s Special Health Services.

Family to Family Health Information Center (F2FHIC)

Provides support to families whose children have special health care needs.We provide information to families on their child’s health care challenges and on navigating the health care financing maze.
Advocacy

LA Citizens for Action Now (LaCAN) is a statewide grassroots network of individuals and families advocating for a service system that supports individuals with disabilities to live in their own homes.
